We are saddened to share that DeHaven Fleming, former Head of School for Pine Crest’s Boca Raton campus, passed away on September 10, 2024 at the age of 81. Mr. Fleming joined the Boca Raton campus in 1985 when it was Boca Raton Academy and then participated in the transition to Pine Crest School in 1987. He remained Head of School until 2005.

Reflecting upon their time with him, faculty remember Mr. Fleming’s spirit of continuous improvement. He led by example, inspiring teachers, staff and students to reach for excellence. He was kind and nurturing, knew every student and employee’s name, and made everyone around him feel valued. Mr. Fleming had an unwavering belief in teachers’ potential, supporting them in achieving more than they may have thought possible. The DeHaven W. Fleming Excellence in Teaching Award was established to honor Mr. Fleming and remains a tradition on the Boca Raton campus today.

Our thoughts and prayers are with DeHaven’s wife Windie, who was a Boca Raton Lower School teacher for many years, and his sons Tristan ’94 and Brock ’03 and the Fleming family.
