Pine Crest Upper School journalism and yearbook students attended the 94th annual Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) Spring Convention and had the opportunity to meet with a group of Pine Crest School alumni.
Students had the opportunity to tour the New York offices of BuzzFeed and Google, hosted by Pine Crest alumnae Mikela Warman ’11, Lindsay Stewart ’98, and Wendi Oppenheim ’11, respectively.
In addition, the students met with a group of alumni for a panel discussion. Alumni shared stories about their career paths and answered deep and interesting questions presented by students. They also offered valuable advice to finding success in the workplace, and interviewing techniques.
To students who asked about the process of developing a broadway show, Valerie Novakoff ’11 reflected that it is often timing that makes a show become a movement. From privacy and regulation to social media creativity, the panel offered an impactful dialog peeking into the journey of professional life.
